Continuing Bond Girl murder saga, update: JAN 11 2010...
Monday January 11 2010
The husband of a top advertising executive and former model has pleaded not guilty to murdering her at their luxury home in north Dublin.
Eamonn Lillis, 51, is charged with killing mother-of-one Celine Cawley just over a year ago, in December 2008.
The 46-year-old businesswoman, who ran television commercials company Toytown Films, was found with severe head injuries on the back patio of their home at Windgate Road in the exclusive suburb of Howth.
Dressed in a suit, wearing a white shirt, a navy tie and a black overcoat, the accused answered "not guilty" when the murder charge was put to him, ahead of his trial at the Criminal Courts of Justice.
After a jury of six men and six women were sworn in, Judge Paul Carney ordered the trial to begin on Tuesday.
Defence barrister Brendan Grehan said he expected the hearing to take three weeks but Judge Carney warned jurors it may run for several more days.
The court heard the couple, who have a teenage daughter, were well-known among advertising circles in Ireland through Toytown Films, where the defendant also worked as a producer.
Ms Cawley was also known for a minor role in the James Bond film A View to a Kill.
